Gwynedd Mercy University (GMercyU) is a private Roman Catholic university in Lower Gwynedd Township, Pennsylvania. The college was founded in 1948 as Gwynedd-Mercy College by the Sisters of Mercy, a Catholic order founded by Catherine McAuley in Dublin, Ireland, in 1831. McAuley's mission was to serve people suffering injustices due to poverty, sickness, and a lack of education, especially women and children.
The Sisters of Mercy established the college on land they purchased in 1948, which included the Gregorian Mansion, outbuildings, and surrounding land formerly known as Willowbrook Farm. After Margaret Bond's death in 1910, the Bonds sold the property to Roland and Anita Taylor, who renamed the farm Treweryn.
