Student Assembly of Interfaith Leaders (SAIL)

While each religious group serves a particular faith constituency, they also work together as part of the Student Assembly of Interfaith Leaders (SAIL) on issues of interfaith engagement, student welfare, and spiritual programming.
SAIL is made up of representatives from the 25 religious and spiritual life groups of Hendricks Chapel. The group seeks to develop participants as interfaith leaders and to function as a student advisory committee for the dean of Hendricks Chapel, Rev. Brian Konkol.
Twice a month, the group meets in Hendricks Chapel for dinner and meaningful interfaith conversation. Students from various faiths, including Muslim, Christian, Hindu, and Jewish, gather to learn and listen to each other's experiences. Their mission is to deepen their understanding of each other’s faiths, as this knowledge forms the foundation for building bridges of unity, empathy, and shared purpose.
To develop a foundation for the current academic year, the group chose the introductory topic of “Fostering Mutual Familiarity”. The convener of the group, Mian Muhammad Abdul Hamid ’25, said the following in his welcome letter:
